Default PCGS files lawsuite against coin doctors ...

PCGS filed a federal lawsuite against five alleged "coin doctors"
claiming that they "engaged in a pattern of racketeering activity"
(among other things) by submitting doctored coins to PCGS over the past
several years. (They also admit that they slabbed many of these coins,
then had to buy them back under their guarantee program, but that's
another story altogether ...).

FWIW, three of the five named defendants are members of the Perfessional
Noomismatics Guild ... and one is even one of the original part owners
of PCGS itself.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

One has to suspect that PNG is now weighing the consequences of
commenting publicly, or not commenting, considering that members are
involved.

There are many more besides the six mentioned in the lawsuit. Some are
"giants" in the numismatic community, others merely service the needs
of major dealers who regularly utilize their "services." be assured
that these Coin doctors will hire top guns to defend them. I'll bet
many others are experienced the pungent odor of fear in the
persipration trickling down their sides. We dealers know who they are,
but I doubt any will blow the whistle on them. Too dangerous to the
health of the whistleblower. Nevertheless, PCGS is not stupid. The
activities of these coin doctors can put them out of business, and
they must have enough evidence to go forward now. Good for them.

Ah yes, the old "For every cockroach you see by day..." reality. At CICF
2009, PCGS had a two-case display of slabbed guarantee buybacks, one of
which was a full head SLQ that turned out not to be such, maybe the same one
mentioned in the article. I hope they get the *******s, and get 'em good,
even if some of them are golden boys (or girls). I don't know which I'd
prefer, to see a bunch of numismatic crooks go down, or watch Blago squeal
on a few dozen crooked Flatlander politicians in a plea bargain deal.

This is definitely going to be interesting.
