1961 Topps #17, 1st Series Check List
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Check List for the 1st series 1961 Topps cards is shown here, both front and back: http://home.triad.rr.com/ovis/images...ecklist1-a.jpg http://home.triad.rr.com/ovis/images...ecklist1-b.jpg I am curious to see if the photo at the top of this card can be identified by any of you guys. I know it's a long shot, but it is worth a try. Here is a larger scan of just that picture. http://home.triad.rr.com/ovis/images/Whos_This.jpg I'm guessing the picture is from the '60 season, although it could be earlier. Anyone recognize the park, the uniforms, the backs of the players, the umpire, the guys in the dugout, the first fan on the left, anything?? /;-) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wade |

I also posted this in another newsgroup, and in a number of replies, the consensus seems to be that it is a Pirate batting. If so, then it would have to be Dick Stuart. He wore jersey #7 for the Pirates. Roberto Clemente wore #21. There is also some thought that this might be Wrigley Field in Chicago, but no one seems to be quite as sure about that. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wade |
