In article RW Julian writes:
I think it is time to quit reminding the political types in this newsgroup that the word "coins" is in the title. With the proliferation of fake names it has become a waste of time anyway. What bothers me more than anything political in this newsgroups is that there is still a quite large group of readers that think it is US only. If you get a bit political on occasion, I have no problem with that, and might even respond on occasion (for some reason US politics has also some influence overhere). The Columbus day thread amuses me, before it came up I never even had heard of it. It amused me more so because it came up on a TV quiz recently. The question was: "When in the US is Columbus day". The possible answers we 1. 4th of July 2. Second monday in October 3. 14th of February The question was answered incorrectly by about 60% of the participants. So a plethora of posts congratulating me on the 4th of July do nothing to me. And, yes, they do occur (not only in this newsgroup). I have also no affection at all for the 14th of February. The super-bowl? What's that to me? Nipple-gate? Just something amusing. (And to be sure, it even was shown overhere on the TV news. Shocking?) So, yes, in general I read and just shrug my shoulders. But RJW's allegations of fake names need quite a bit more backing than he gives. -- dik t. winter, cwi, kruislaan 413, 1098 sj amsterdam, nederland, +31205924131 home: bovenover 215, 1025 jn amsterdam, nederland; http://www.cwi.nl/~dik/ |

"RW Julian" wrote in message ... An interesting childish scribble from someone who purports to be at austin.com but really is at rr.com, the home base for one of the other political posters, no dout a "coincidence" although there is little doubt that fake names and addresses are quite common. It is also worth noting that this "other" person at rr.com also uses a fake return address, no doubt another coincidence. And the "other" person posts endless poltical material. Probably just more coincidence. But it does provide nice evidence of how upset some people get if they are interrupted telling the rest of us how important THEIR version of politics is. Try looking at the posting IP address. I have been in Europe for the last week and a half. I have not been posting to any newsgroups. So put that notion of me using a sock puppet to rest. |
