Walter Raleigh's Histotry pf the World

Does anybody have details on early editions? I would like to find out
more about the 1666 edition I have.

I don't have much. Sir Walter Raleigh's History of the World was first
published in 1614. Allibone's Dictionary of Authors also list editions
published in 1628 and 1652 prior to your 1666 edition. The 1677
eleventh edition and subsequent editions also included Raleigh's Life by
William Oldys as well as his Trial. Allibone calls the 1736 edition in
two-volumes folio the best of the old editions. Lowndes, in his
Bibliographer's Manual, says the 1736 edition used to be the best
edition until the 1829 Oxford edition replaced it. From 1698 on,
Abridgements of Raleigh's History of the World were also published and
combined with some of Raleigh's other works. As to value, your 1666
edition could be worth several thousand dollars. The condition of your
folio will determine how many thousands.
