Rockola 470 play problem can anyone help?
My rockola 470 just started to do something funny. Every time i select a record it spins around but starts to stutter and then eventually stops before it picks record up. when it does this the play relay is clicking up and down. the odd thing is I can put the selector in the scan position and it goes around just fine. everything is original to the jukebox so i'm hoping its just the relay any suggestions would be great.

I'm guessing that is your issue- either dirty or otherwise not making contact. Thomas |

This probably goes without saying, but check your write-in Relay. If the mechanism "stutters", there's a chance that the contacts are misfiring or at best making erratic contact. Relays can be had for less than five bucks online and are worth a try. You want a 24 volt AC relay.

Check the mute relay to be sure. It may be hanging up in the "on" position, muting out the sound when the record is in "play" mode. There is a quick and easy way to check this out: The juke will play when the mute relay is removed (it just won't mute out the machine hums, clicks and pops between record selections). When the relay is removed, there is NO muting function until it is re-inserted. At any rate, that's a good way to tell if it's the culprit. Relays can be quite cheap online, often under five bucks....you want a 24-volt DC relay.....check pin configuration on the relay, I believe it is called a "cube" relay.
