Here's a Lesson in False Advertising
Check out this guy's coin auctions, and the phoney headers and
descriptions: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZferrareco And, I guess by eBay standards, he's legit. Columbo |

Looks like typical coin show wares, at least in the part of the world where

I don't understand what is throwing up the red flags. Is it because he's
overgrading? B "James Higby" heezerbumfrool[at]hotmail[dot]com wrote in message ... Looks like typical coin show wares, at least in the part of the world where I live. I just don't see any serious false advertising.

He is selling an 1884-S repro, which he mentions in the description, but fails to mention in the header ... is this what you are referring to? And, like everyone else, he overgrades -- but as always, if a coin is not certified, this should be taken with a grain (sometimes a kilo) of salt. I don't see anything out of the ordinary here, although I certainly don't find his coins at all attractive. -- Bob Hairgrove |

Actually, the 1884-S is probably genuine (but not AU as he claims, I would give it an XF at most -- look at the smooth eagle breast feathers), whereas the 1893-S is a copy as well as the 1895 "PROOF" preceding it in the list. -- Bob Hairgrove |
