Book Dealers who can't grade

I came acorss Nancy Pearl's pair of books on reading, read them, and
decide to buy a few books that I hadn't run into before.

Some I bought from Amazon used book sellers, and a few pricier ones I
bought from Abebook dealers.

Most of them were very cheap, some a bit more expensive, like $25. In
all cases I attempted to accumulate the books from dealers who gave
some indication of condition.

My favorite arrived today, from an abebooks dealer who assured a grade
of F/F.

This F/F book had a nice remainder mark on the top (not the bottom).
Then I noticed the book had a rather chemically smell to it, so I went
thru it and found a sheet of Bounce or similar stinky fabric softener
in it.

I guess this was to remove the odor of a 'smoking home' or 'must' or
whatever.

Amazing the people who call themselves honest booksellers today...
