Default car subwoofers

has anyone heard those subwoofers while stuck in traffic? (the ones
that shake your car even if you're 20 or so feet away). Would it be
possible to hook these up to an 8 track player or is this just a stupid
idea?.

You mean hook your deck onto their subwoofers? Sounds like an
interesting afternoon.

their skin have these subwoofers in their car.

I had a 12" in a ported enclosure on my Panasonic at one time, but
it's sort of a waste, unless all you listen to is rap crap and you
want to really annoy people and get noise tickets. I use two 8s
crossed over at 3.5 KHz to two EV horn tweeters, a 7 band equalizer
and an older Rockford-Fizzgate amp rated at 100 WPC. That's more than
enough for any real listening.

You'd need to do one of two things...pick off a line level
(approximately) feed from the first voltage stage of the power amp and
feed it to a big power amp, or you could take the speaker output of
the 8 track deck, terminate it in 16 or 8 ohms, and pick the signal
off from there, which I do not recommend. All the power amps in these
old things were none too good, and are lousy with distortion. My
Panasonic has the earlier option, and I removed the power transistors.
The fidelity and freedom form distortion is as good as any more
contemporary cassette deck.
