"Extra Leaves" WI quarters won't be in Redbook in 2006
Just to clear up a general misunderstanding, the so-called "extra
leaves" Wisconsin quarters will not be listed in the 2006 Edition of the Redbook, except as a footnote in the state quarter section. In response to a direct question as to whether or not he intended to list them, Editor Ken Bressett said (quoted by permission) "It is my intention to only mention them in a footnote, and not as a line listing." Bressett went on to say that it was his understanding that Q. David Bowers intended to list them in a separate volume dealing only with state quarters. Apparently some people have misconstrued the future Bowers listing, where naturally there will be more room for errors and varieties, as being a listing in "A Guide Book of United States Coins," commonly known as the Redbook. That is not the case. I hope that this clears up the misunderstanding. Tom DeLorey |
