Default GEO S. PARKER 1941 Spitfire web site ready

According to a press release dated July 2, 1941. The Parker Pen Company,
through it's Canadian and English subsidiaries, contributed 5,000 pounds
sterling to the Royal Air Force in support of their war effort.

As a result a 1941 Spitfire MK Vb was produced that carried the name GEO S.
PARKER and was flown by the No 313 (Czech) Squadron.
Out of approx 3000 of the gallant RAF aircrew that flew during the Battle of
Britain and after qualified for the British Medal DFC Distinguished Flying
Cross and clasp, fewer than 200 still survive, their average age being 85
years.

At the time of 'The Spitfire Fund' the following price list of the major
component parts of a Spitfire was issued by the Air Ministry in the summer
of 1940.
Engine £2,000.00
Fuselage £2,500.00
Wings £1,800.00
Undercarriage £800.00
Guns £800.00

Petrol Tank (Top) £40.00
Petrol Tank (Bottom) £25.00
Oil Tank £25.00
Compass £5.00

To these items can be added a further £1,000 for a variety of small parts
such as screws, cables, switches, sockets, gauges and paint.

The donation was made through The Spitfire Fund and was acknowledged with
the presentation of a plaque from the Ministry of Aircraft Production to
Parker and is presently on display at their Newhaven, East Sussex facility.
