F mint mark on dollar coin?
I'm pretty sure I see the letter F under the date of a golden dollar. It
was a sacagawea from around 1995. I don't have the coin in hand for the exact year, though it really did look like a F under the date. Could it be something else that kind of looks like a F? |

People who post on RCC to say they have a Sacajawea dollar "from around 1995" should have a Red Book power-nailed to their forehead and then have their index fingers klopped-off with a large bolt cutter. Or something like that. BdB is totally correct to give the OP total ****. oly |

Could it be something else that kind of looks like a F? Barney, Sacagawea dollars weren't struck until 2000. In fact, the U.S. didn't strike any dollar coins in 1995. The last dollar coins struck were Eisenhowers (1971-1978), Susan B. Anthony (1979-1981, 1999), and Sacagaweas (2000-present). Before anyone jumps on me, I know all about Sacs were struck from 2000-2008 and were then designated Native American dollars from 2009 on. Jerry |

I bet it isn't a Sacagawea dollar, but a Buffalo/Indian Head nickel. The 'F' would be the designer's initial, for James Earle Fraser. Like I said, just a guess. |

Yep, the famed 1995 Buffalo nickel. -------- how would the OP confuse a dollar coin with a nickel - and golden finish vs "nickel" finish. |
