eBay alternatives for stamps sales

Hello,


Due to ebay's recent modifications, many of my sellers leave to other
sites.

Most seem to go to http://www.delcampe.net (a specialized site in
stamps).


Do you have information over this new site ? They say it exists for
five years ?!?

They have at least a lot of items.


Do you know better auction sites ?

What county are you from?

A 'national' site could work very well, here in the Netherlands I use
qoop.nl

french, not engilsh. So why looking for Delcampe?

I tried it out at Delcampe and found a lot of very nice items; most people
understand also English, so it is no problem at all.

For European collectors it is very interesting to pay by banktransfer with
no additional fees.

I made a very quick visit to the site. Not enough time to make any
conclusions. The one page I visited, (Japan) had more than 8,000
listings and many were very common stamps I get free from my friendly
dealer or just a few pennies. I did not check to see the payment
methods. Do they take paypal?

I suspect that Alphonse is a TROLL doing advertising for

OK, so I too fell for the advertising gimick. It did give me some
knowledge that I didn't have before. Here is what I found from my
second venture into the website:
1. As with all sales sites be very careful what you buy. Many prices
are higher than US and eBay prices. Do your homework.
2. The sight has much english and even occasional Scott numbers.
3. There are multiple listings for some stamps and they are not grouped
together.
4. In some of the multiple listings for the same stamp the prices can
vary from decent to outrageous. Do your homework.
5. There are many listings for stamps that are not so easy to find
elsewhere. Do Your homework. I found many that I would like to buy but
my budget is almost maxed out.
6. There is a time limit so pay attention or the item may go out the
door before you decide to buy.
6. They do not take PayPal but do take credit cards.
I have the site bookmarked however I am not sure I will use them.

Please don't get me wrong. I have visited Delcampe
numerous times and they have some good value
items as well as some poor value lots. (Like any such site)

What upsets me is when a troll contravenes the group
charter by posting spam messages that are advertising
in disguise.

I did see the original post as a rather transparent troll, but it
served to remind me to do some more browsing at Delcampe. And it was
worth it, assuming I win the bid I placed on a cover for my Vietnam War
collection.

I don't find Delcampe much different than eBay, except that the sellers
are mostly if not all European. Some speak English, but even if they
don't it's rarely a problem to figure out what's being offered and what
the conditions of sales are. Some require cash only, others take PayPal
and other forms of payment. I have found Delcampe sellers to be prompt
and courteous, and transactions have been flawless. One thing I
especially like about Delcampe is that I don't have to wade through
offers of diet products and electric guitars to the stamps, covers, and
postcards I'm looking for. I also appreciate the fact that postcards,
especially, are commonly of European origin and not often seen in North
America.
