Default Parker 51 when to refill?

Just got a parker 51 to use as an every day pen. its the sort with the
plastic sack that you squeeze to fill. is the pen empty when the ink is at
the bottom of the sack or is there plenty left before it needs refilling?
Paul.

Hi Paul,
There's plenty left in the collector even after you can no longer see
ink in the sac. Just refill when you notice it beginning to write dry...
You'll know what this means after you write with the pen for awhile.
Parker 51s can write *a lot* on one fill. -- B

It's better to wait until theiy are empty, flush them with water, then
refil them so there is no possibility of contamination in the event
the ink decides to go moldy.

I suspect you could go days without refilling under normal use.
