One that got away - and a couple that didn't
The price was just too much - for me, not for the book.
At the Avon (Connecticut) Public Library Sale this weekend, they had a signed, first edition (two volumes) of Booker T. Washington's "The Story of the Negro" in very good condition, for $200. I will probably think about not buying for a long time. On the plus side, (1) a first printing of Arthur Miller's "Death of A Salesman", Viking, "first published in March, 1949", for $1.00. (2) a signed first edition from the Franklin Press of Joyce Carol Oates, "The Mysteries of Winterthurm", for $8. A good quality library sale. By far, most of the books are donated. Francis A.
