That's right, and that's what the police are for.

Let them decide if she needs a trip to the Ha Ha Hilton.

Well, no. The police should never be deciding things like that. We
have people that can make such determinations.

And I'm not advocating police involvement at all. Apart from the fact
that she really didn't do anything illegal; the store has a manager
and a security force. They ought to be able to manage something like
this without bringing in the cavalry.

I'm operating under the assumption that she has a serious mental problem.
I don't believe even a 7 year old would think a million dollar bill is
real.

The people at the Hilton will decide if she needs to stay or have her
medication tweaked. The police will just facilitate her arrival, happens
all the time.

The most she is guilty of is disturbing the peace and or trespass and
that won't go anywhere.

There is something wrong here. Did she think it was it was a million dollar
bill, or may be thousand bill. She sounds like an imbecile. She should have
known the bill was bogus, so by trying to pay with it, she was attempting
fraud. Comments please

I think the standard for fraud would be that a normal reasonable person
would believe the bill is real. The gene pool might be thinning out but not
that much, yet...

Fine. I'm not - not untill I've heard a diagnosis.

I don't believe even a 7 year old would think a million dollar bill is

They're easy (and fun!) to convince. Adults can be pretty gullible
too, for that matter.

The people at the Hilton will decide if she needs to stay or have her
medication tweaked. The police will just facilitate her arrival, happens
all the time.

Which is quite a different matter!

that won't go anywhere.

I wouldn't even say she's guilty of those! Trespassing? She has the
same rights to be in the store as anyone else. Disturbing the peace?
Could be. Depends on how loud she was, I guess.

Who knows.

She sounds like an imbecile.

She sounds more like someone trying to dupe some dumb cashier - and
got caught red handed.

Without further information, everything is pointless speculation.
Fraud? Trumped up. You'd probably have to demonstrate or prove
_intent_ to defraud. As Devil's Advocate, I'd say all she did was
merely offer the cashier some money in exchange for the merchandise.
He (rightfully) refused it.

It sounds like the old story about the man who offered gold plated
racketeer nickels in exchange for small purchases and got several
dollars in change. If the clerk takes the bait, that's his loss. Mind
you, I can't see how any clerk would be stupid enough to accept a
million dollar bill.

Even if they were that stupid, how would they make change?

If he were that stupid, the manager or owner would probably take it
out of the emplyee's pocket.
