Psalm 14:1

That's a great verse. I have no issue with it whatsoever.

The issue that I see is that modern Christianity seems to spend its time
talking about a rather long list of items it opposes: evolution, abortion,
gay rights, public schools, France, liberal media, labor unions, and
Muslims, just to name a few. Meanwhile it invents accusations of
persecution, insists on the vain and blasphemous use of its own Deity's name
on currency and public recitations, against one of the very Commandments
that it delights in quoting on every possible occasion, and demands that the
government prop up its tenuous faith by making its icons mandatory on the
public square. It bears no resemblance to the version that existed during
the first century, a time when believers were still enthralled with the
teachings of the One who had inspired them in His birth, life, and death.
Go back through all the postings on the topic of the Christian religion in
this newsgroup for the past four years and tell us how many mentions you
find of His name, especially by those who are playing the role of evangelist
to the hilt.

Typical bible thumping nitwit.
There ARE other religions other than christianity, many of which do
not believe that the bible is a holy book.
IMO all religions are pretty much equally inane though.

General Order 1A, Part 2, Section J issued by General Tommy Franks on
behalf of the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) prohibits
"proselytizing of any religion, faith or practice."

In addition to coins and Bibles, US soldiers have given Iraqi children
comic books published by companies such as Chick Publications. These
inflammatory comic books, published in English and Arabic, not only
depict Mohammed, but show both Mohammed and Muslims burning in hell
because they did not accept Jesus as their savior before they died

I'd be interested in seeing documentation of the above claims.

Do you have a cite for that, Frank?

For anyone who doesn't recognize the name "Chick Publications", Jack Chick
is the creator of those little (roughly) dollar bill sized (or at least
shaped) Christian comic books that you usually find on top of payphones. (At
least that's where I've seen most of mine.) He's been drawing, publishing
and distributing those things for years, and I'd be surprised if more than a
few people in here haven't come across a few.

I don't know what poor Jack is going to do, seeing as how payphone's are
becoming a thing of the past.

Ah, here we go:

http://www.chick.com/default.asp

Here's a direct link to a sample of his work:

http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0001/0001_01.asp

And here's a link to one that the Muslims would find particularly offensive,
perhaps even the one to which Frank was referring:

http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0042/0042_01.asp

And before any unnamed idiot decides to put his foot in his mouth, I support
Jack Chick's right to publish whatever the hell he wants to, and if he
chooses to draw a picture of Muhammad being sodomized by a homosexual
Zionist while drinking a pint of warm pig's blood I'm all for it. I might
even buy a copy. I'm also all for any American Muslim excercising the exact
same rights in a similar fashion as a citizen of the US...in the US.

I might even buy a copy.

Offering a coin is hardly "imposing".

It is when the offerer is heavily armed.
If a heavily armed Muslim came up and offered you a Koran, would you
feel imposed upon. I sure would.

Especially if he and countless tens of thousand of his buddies are in your
country...and you're heavily unarmed.

Psalm 14:1

One of my favorite Bible verses...no lie.

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they
have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."

The notion that there is no atheist that "does good" is beyond silly,
especially if you believe (as many in my church did) that anyone who doesn't
worship "Jehovah, The One True God (tm)" is also an atheist...the reason
being self-explanatory. That verse helps point out the fallacy of the
argument (that many in my church accepted) that when you do something "bad"
it's because of your sinful nature, but when you do something good and
selfless it's from God dwelling inside you. I take credit for the bad I've
done, and the good...God had nothing to do with either, and while I'm the
last guy to toot his own horn I consider myself living proof of the lie of
that verse.

I'm also not a fool.

That Kathy was persecuted by the christian nationalists for saying that
Jesus had no part in her winning an Emmy. She took credit for the bad AND
the good. And if your understanding needs further clarification, I am
unable to assist you.
