Default possible vintage Rotring pencil

I have a question about a vintage four colour pencil.

On the clip is stamped the word KULI, which Google shows me to be a
name once used by Rotring.

The metal parts are of plated 'Walz Gold' and the pen has a shiny
black plastic central body with a Rotring style red band.

The screw-down cap for the clip has stamped into it the letters
'DBPa'.

I have posted a photo of the pen at

Was this pencil made by Rotring? If so, approximately when?

Hi,

Kuli is short for Kugelschreiber, i.e. biro or ballpoint.

Good suggestion. Problem is that this is a pencil that uses leads.
Still, I suppose the manufacturer could have used the abbreviation.

You have two options with this project: 1) You can buy the assembled
version for $150, then all you will need to do is buy and install the
RAM and the HDD; ...

I think Kuli is from Rotring's original name, "Tintenkuli" ("Ink worker"?
Something like that. "Kuli" = "cooley", a politically incorrect name that
was changed later.). The Tintenkuli was a stylograph, but I think they
adapted "-kuli" from the original stylograph to other products, e.g. a
4-color pencil was a "4 Farb-kuli", as the clip on your pencil says.

Still, the pencil might not absolutely be a Rotring. I think other German
manufacturers may have been "inspired" to adopt red rings and/or the "Kuli"
moniker as a suggestion of quality. A little Googling of my own shows a "4
Farb-kuli" made by Binford on German eBay (although that one doesn't have a
red ring).

Thanks. I tried asking Rotring, but got no reply. I'll try again. They
must have somebody interested in their history.
