NBA legend Mikan dies at 80
PHOENIX (AP) -- George Mikan, professional basketball's first dominant
big man who led the Minneapolis Lakers to five championships, died at a Scottsdale rehabilitation center, family members said Thursday. He was 80. |

I heard about that. According to the report, he is the one who
started the NBA as we know it today because they changed a lot of rules because he was dominating the sport...it was like a one man show. Supposedly, he was the tallest player at the time; the game didn't include tall people then! Interesting stuff... sad he passed.
