American 2 dollar bill
I have an older American 2 dollar bill... however I've noticed that it had a
Red Stamp on it instead of the typical green stamp that other notes have. I couldn't tell you the exact year since its been left behind at my old home in a safety deposit box... likely from the 70s or 80s maybe earlier. Is there anything special about the Red stamped version? Or are they all Red stamped? |

The red seal means that it is a United States Note, which was a legal-tender note backed by the US Government rather. These $2 notes were printed for the following Series: 1928-1928G 1953-1953C 1963-1963A In 1976, the $2 bill was redesigned for the bicentennial. The Signing of The Declaration of Independence was the new design for the back. This series of $2 notes (as well as the later 1995 and 2003 series) are issued by the Federal Reserve (which uses the more common green seal). Hope this helps, Geoffrey |
