Default How much do you have to bribe Beckett????

To get a good grade? Just wondering as I've noticed cards graded gem that have
white around the corners. And just recently, a friend and I attended a show in
our hometown- Houston- and he submitted an Ahman Green SP Authentic rc which he
just recieved via internet, bought it from ebay. Anyway, several weeks later
the card came back an 8.5 (i believe) with white showing around two of the
corners. I feel sorry for my buddy because I can vouch that the card was
flawless when he handed it over (personally, might I add) to a Beckett grading
representative. Who then must have brought it back to head quarters for some
frisby throwing contest or something of the like! It's really hard to find
quality businesses now-a-days and I wish I could trust in one to professionally
grade mine without overcharging and scamming me out of a good grade. Doesen't
Beckett sale cards on their sight that were graded by them? Kind of
questionable huh? Later everybody,

It is no different than the coin industry. The 10's make the rest of us want
to send in more cards. When you don't get good grades back, it is just like
buying a pack of cards are getting junk. Your addicted and the only way out
is to quit and go to "rehab". (watch tv, mow the lawn, paint the house).

Not addictted and not envious. I just don't like how Beckett has some-what
monopolized the hobby.

Don't feel too badly. I sent in a bunch of cards to SCD Authentic. Two of
the cards that were near mint when I submitted them came back destroyed.
One had been bent in half and the crease dropped it to a 3, the other was
destroyed (tape had adhered to the back and scuffed it all to pieces).

That's ridiculous. I carry around an SCD graded 87 Donruss Maddux just to show
people why NOT to send anything to them. The card is graded a 7 and is just
pathetic looking. It tells me the company isnt worth a damn.

I'd rather buy an ungraded card from a dealer I trust than buy a card
graded by any company. The grades can't be trusted and the holders are
ugly. The graded card market is and always will be driven by two main
factors: greed & stupidity.

.... and the collectors who buy them.

Everyone stop buying them and we'd have no more discussions on this subject.
