Default Mayberry Memories In Roanoke, VA=Awesome!

Hey All-

First post in a long time!
Father's Day weekend brought a trip to Roanoke, VA, for the "Mayberry
Memories in Word and Song" weekend. Stars in attendance, Maggie Peterson,
James Best, George Spence, Betty Lynn and George "Goober" Lindsey.

Friday-was "Aunt Bee's Picnic and a silent auction, along with a very
informal meet and greet with the stars. Signed autographs after the picnic.

Saturday evening brought the show-which show cased each star for about 15
minutes, and highlights from TAGS. George Lindsey was the last to perform,
and his one-liners were hilarious!!! James Best came on as "Jim
Lindsey"-confirmed he could not play a guitar in real life, then broke into
his "Rosco P. Coltrane" routine. Rosco and The Mayberry Deputy went head to
head as to who the head sherriff was.

Sunday brought an intimate luncheon on Smith Mountain Lake on the Virginia
Dare paddle boat. only star not there was George Lindsey, who had another
engagement. not only was the lunch outstanding-but I was able to sit beside
Maggie Peterson-who played Charlene Darling-very down to earth-friendly-and
even fired us a couple of trivia questions related to TAGS.

Over all-a fun weekend-and got several trading cards signed, as well as
winning a signed copie of "Mayberry Memories" book at the silent auction!

Until next outing-

PS; almost forgot-The Mayberry Deputy aka David Browning was in attendance
as "Barney". There was also an "Otis and Floyd" impersonators as well. The
Deputy was tops!!!!!
