Tiepolo, Neumann, and the Wuerzburg Frescoes
A small page about Tiepolo's life and work, including the famous ceiling
frescoes in the Würzburg Palace, and the architect Johann Balthasar Neumann is now online at http://arthistory.heindorffhus.dk/frame-Tiepolo.htm In 2000 the Würzburg Palace was declared World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. To Rodney: at the bottom of the page there is an image (not stamp) that might particularly interest you :-) -- Best regards Ann Mette Heindorff (Mette) http://www.heindorffhus.dk |

Brilliant!
A fine page Mette, I think I have a decided favourite with my artists now. I thought he captured Neumann's station vividly, full of ego and respect, which he no doubt commanded. I was curious about the rosette? on his wrist, or is that part of the fur thing on which he rests. Feel free to expand the page anytime |

... Brilliant! Thanks :-) A fine page Mette, I think I have a decided favourite with my artists now. I thought he captured Neumann's station vividly, full of ego and respect, which he no doubt commanded. I was curious about the rosette? on his wrist, or is that part of the fur thing on which he rests. I don't really know. It could be part of the general decoration that often came with Rococo dresses, some sort of "male bracelet", like the enormous wig [a true moth-catcher ;-)] that really gave some weight to the person wearing it ;-) Feel free to expand the page anytime Feel free to send me any Tiepolo-stamp for the purpose that you might come across :-) -- Best regards Ann Mette Heindorff (Mette) http://www.heindorffhus.dk |
