1943 3 cent stamps purple background with white v and small print that
says "win the war."

george washington profile 3 cent, 1940's vintage

statue of liberty, 3 cent, blue background.

A dealer might charge 25 cents each (mainly for his time + bother.
If unused you could use them for postage.

A rule of thumb when dealing with U.S. stamps
is that the vast majority of postage printed after
1930 is good for...just that.

1847-1925: the golden age of U.S. Postage,
in my not-so-humble opinion, however one not
intended to detract in the least from an evocative
display of the Washington Bicentennial issue,
released New Year's Day 1932, in colorful values
ranging from 1/2 cent to 10 cents, and at the
height of the Great Depression.
