ebay ended my coin auctions and suspended me
was selling coins on ebay here in Kentucky had just started for 2 months had
no negatives and 42 positive feedbacks we always tried to sell honest coins. We had all of the over $50 coins slabed by PCI just to assure the buyers that the coins were real. Nothing fancy but if you have a 1931-S penny or a 1932-D quarter in low grade its better to be in a PCI slab for $6 than just in a flippet and and who can afford to pay the big slabing companys? On one day vacation and when I came back BAM!! all the auctions were ended saying the coins were counterfeit. Ebay never answered my letter so I figured this must be some mistake and I relisted them. BAM!! everything ended again then saying my account was suspended indefanately for relisting counterfeits...and I am prohibited from opening another account or useing ebay in anyway....this is crazy. These are slabed coins for the protection of my buyers!! I called PCI and talked to the lady who said that ebay no longer considers PCI coins as slabed and that their lawyers were working to sue ebay for defamation. I am not a dealer but I got these coins in PCI slabs to be HONEST and now my little coin business is RUINED. ..what oh what did i do wrong.....so here is my thoughts...lets start a class action lawsuit....they cant do business this way in america...unless the countries name has changed to iraq overnight and no one told me.... are they related to saddam he gasses his own people in the middle of the night with no explanation ...is that what is next for America? I have lots of inventory left that I can't sell to pay the bills.....i am sure there are the true scamers and all out there but there are alot of people like me what the heck did i do wrong.... I haven't used PCI, but their website gives their lowest price as $10 per coin. ANACS, an eBay "approved" grader, charges $12 for their "Economy" service. On one day vacation and when I came back BAM!! all the auctions were ended saying the coins were counterfeit. This was an unforgivable gaffe on eBay's part. You were in violation of a new - but unpublicized - rule by eBay regarding certified coins. Your auctions were not pulled because you listed counterfeit coins, but because you violated the rule on listing coins that *includes* a ban on listing counterfeit coins. eBay was certainly wrong in imposing a rule without warning listers in the coins categories, and indescribably wrong in implying the auctions were pulled because of "counterfeits". they cant do business this way in america...unless the countries name has changed to iraq overnight and no one told me.... are they related to saddam he gasses his own people in the middle of the night with no explanation ...is that what is next for America? While I agree that you have been terribly wronged, you lost me in this paragraph. eBay is a private business and they can run their business any way they choose to as long as they do so legally. It has nothing to do with "this is America". You have the right to decline to sell your coins to anyone you choose not to do business with. eBay has the right to decline to provide their service to anyone they choose not to do business with. Any company can adopt any legal policy they choose to adopt. It can be a bad policy, as eBay has demonstrated, but it's their right to do so. *That's* the American way. I have lots of inventory left that I can't sell to pay the bills. People were buying and selling coins long before eBay came along. eBay is a convenient way to buy and sell coins, but it's not the only way to do so. While I agree that you were wronged, I can't agree that eBay has deprived you of the ability to sell your inventory. You just can't sell it via eBay. -- Tony Cooper Orlando, FL |

PCI slabbed coins for $6 with a 5 day turnaround for years before a
recent increase to $10. They still offer $6 or $7 specials in Coin World. They are an acceptable choice for coins under $300 or so. Of course the ebay approved companies are considered perfect... http://www.frankcoins.com/ngcerror1853.jpg |
