Rare Asian Coin Question
So I'm new to coin collecting and have come accross a coin that I was
told was once valued at over a hundred bucks (like 30 years ago). I wanted to find out the best way to determine it's value. I've scanned the front and the back of it and if anyone has any idea where I could start I'd appreciate any help. The links below are to the front and the back... http://eeik2006.homeip.net/front.jpg http://eeik2006.homeip.net/back.jpg |

I am not 100% sure but I have had a look at my catalogue and I THINK I found
your coin. You might like to compare it to this listing: 50 Cash - China, Yunnan Y#478 (1998 Stadard Catalogue of World Coins 1901-present 25th Anniversary Edition). My hay fever is playing up and I have water pouring out one eye but I THINK that could be it. Hope this helps. Mame "Michael E. Marotta" wrote in message om... Wow...thank you so much. Was able to track it down online as to the
actual year and coin. I didnt think there would be a chance to find it since mine is a little aged. I've found another on a website in russia... http://www.zeno.ru/data/658/265Yunna...1917_-1919.jpg Looks like it may be a special 1917-1919 edition? Maybe? Well I'll keep looking into it now that I know what it is. Was told the value years ago and never beleived him, was a friend that was into coins at the time more so than I was. Krause's 2002 Standard Catalog of World Coins 1901-Present lists the estimated retail values for a specimen in Very Good condition at $10 for the brass version (Y#478) and at $20 for a copper version (Y#478a). The Y# is Krause's catalog number. Circulated coins are graded (coin condition) from Good (G), Very Good (VG), Fine (F), Very Fine (VF), Extra Fine (EF or XF) and About Uncirculated (AU). A coin graded Good is actually a very worn coin. I would grade your coin as Good. |
