Kennedy half dollars

In the Numismatic Coin Market price guide I find there are
two 1979 and 1981 Kennedy proofs Type l and Type ll.

I have 4 1979 of these proof half dollars, two have a clear
S mint mark and the other two look like small globs.
Is that what makes them Type l and Type ll ?
On the 1981 proofs both mint marks are the same and are
not as sharp as the 1979's but also not a globs.

How do tell the difference between type l and type ll?
