Default High cost of new issues

Reflecting on the high price of collecting new issues.
France takes the cake in 2008, 174 stamps, catalog value - $449.00.
Australia issued more stamps, 240 stamps, catalog value - #330.75.
In 2007 Japan wins with 108 stamps, catalog value - $413.90, France
comes in second with 115 stamps, catalog vaue - $314.25. Australia
has the most stamps, 184 stamps, catalog value - $229.20
In 2006 Australia has most stamps issued, 143 stamps - catalog value -
$291.25
France has highest catalog value for the year, $359.65 - 119 stamps
followed by Liberia, $317.50 - 68 stamps.
Collecting these countries is no longer for the faint of heart.

Lets dig a little deeper, and from whence you received your information.
define "stamps" as noted in your suggestion.

Does this include stamps from territories Christmas Island and the like?
Does this include minisheets, differing perf die cuts, coil stamps,
does this include the commemorative stamp facsimile medallion sewed into the jockstrap of
the athlete that took the long jump record on crutches?

Nowhere in philately is there a demand for completion, it is the collectors choice,
Philately is a buffet, you walk along the Baine Marie and take your items to taste.
I get your point, Ralph, but what is your alternative? no matter what emmissions were decided on
people will still complain.
I would hazard a guess Australia in 2008 released about half what you suggest,
if we were talking about little pieces of perfed or die cut paper that would carry mail.

....or weak of wallet.

There is no rule saying that anyone has to collect ALL the new issues
from any country. I've haven't purchased a $15 US hunting permit stamp
for many years now.

And if you make your own album pages you can easily skip the frames for
those high-value stamps.

Rodney, only major numbers listed in Scott Catalog. Scott did the work
fror me I just used their chart.
I would never consider a complete collection for any country. High
price and unavailability being the main reason. Some of the newer
formed countries it may be possible.
W
My concern of a complete collection is some of the Joint Issues. The
1955 Coffee issue and the 1944 Marianne Red Cross issue being two that
have my interest. All of my needs are not high value, just not on any
market that I have found.

Well, I am surprised Ralph,
without deeper scrutiny, it may be taken up by Aust Post
releasing stamps of "teams", football, olympics and the like.
Release those in perforated and die cut, and numbers rise steeply.

Well, I can suggest two other 'countries' (apart from the obvious
Tierra del Fuego) that consist of one stamp, on a simplified basis:
Jasdan and Wadhwan. Curiously, near neighbours of each other, though
their stamp issues were 40 years apart.
