Unfortunately, my Krause catalog only starts at 1901.

Good luck!

Somehow I don't think you'll find that in Krause under `UK'.

Probably not, since all my other English coins after 1900 are found
there under "Great Britain".

But ... what is it?

It's not from any of the other recognised components of the state entity
known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (which
includes `Great Britain', as outlined in the first line in Krause
concerning `Great Britain').

It's not an English coin. England stopped producing its own coins back
in the early 1700's.

It's not an official or private pattern coin from any of the component
parts of the aforementioned state entity that i'm aware of.

But ... what is it?

Most probably something other than a bona fide coin. Seller hasn't
responded to my request via ebay for data concerning the reverse. Caveat
Emptor.

It looks more like a modern fantasy, the portrait was used on some patterns,
but the style of lettering with that head doesnt match anything I reconise.

Almost probably one of these Horrible things....

Utter trash, made by idoits for idiots imo.

It's probably one of the various "retro" proof coins that are around at
the moment and as such is worth very little. Billy

Agreed. I think Alan Marshall has found a better displayed example being
offered (see link he gives in a slightly earlier post in this thread to
your one).

This is neither an official UK coin, nor a known contemporary pattern.

Looks like a modern fantasy coin, but WHY is only one side shown?
