Help with NSM Prestige ES160
Hello All,
I have the above juke which has suddenly developed a sound problem. The juke worked fine when I last used it (about 2 weeks ago) and when I went to play it today, I found that only the right hand speakers are working. To investigate the problem further, I turned the right hand speakers completely down and turned up the left hand ones fully. I could only hear the song playing very faintly. The sound wasn't distorted at all and the output stage of the amp sounded ok, because I got some hiss when turned up full. I'm wondering if there could be a problem in the left hand pre-amp stage. Has anyone come across this problem? Many thanks in advance. |

The cable that runs under the carriage was prone to break wires internally - sometimes the audio, other times other wires. You can do a continuity test from the cartridge to the DIN plug that feeds the amp. Hello John, Many thanks for your reply. I have done a contunity test and the din plug checks out fine. The last time the juke was working fine, it was playing for about an hour at fairly high volume. As part of my testing tonight, I swapped the left and right pre-amp models over but I still had the same problem in the left channel very low sound with no bass at all and a slight earth noise in the background. When I switch the amp to mono, I get sound in both speakers. All fuses in the amp appear intact. What should my next move be? Many thanks in advance. |

I don't know if the stereo/mono switch is at the speakers (outputs of power amplifiers) or inputs to the power amplifier. If it is at the speakers, then I expect a power amp has failed, if at the input to the power amp, then I would be looking for a connection issue.
