Automated scanning with a photo scanner
Mostly cross-posted from StampWants forums:
Has anyone explored automated stock-card scanning using a photo scanner with an auto-feed? I'm just beginning to explore this, but it looks like the Hewlett-Packard C5280, C6180, and D7160 have "4x6 auto feed trays" for batch scanning of photographs. If a photo, why not a G&K stock card with a stamp in it? I prefer 106BKs (as Rodney can attest): they're 5 1/2" x 3 3/8", which is close enough that they would probably be natively-supported by the scanner (see http://www.subwaystamp.com/prodinfo....ber=ZGK106CK/O) We'd have to make sure that they wouldn't be too thick, gum up the works, destroy our precious stamps, but it could be a massive time-saver. Once the images are scanned, the files created, and the images numbered, they could all be cropped (or whatever) in bulk using third-party software. It would make posting inventory much easier! I'm wondering if anyone has walked down this road before, and if they have any scouting notes. -- Joshua H.
