Looks like a modified 1948 to me. The 3 is wrong.

Ths only thing missing from the description is "Please bring a
suitcase full of cash so that my *personality* can do *bussiness* with
you"

Steve
Buy the book before the coin
don't forget to *READ* the book after you've bought it!
It doesn't do anything just sitting on the shelf

Yep, no luck selling it so far. I checked the other day and saw the new
pictures look more like a steel penny than the first ones did.

I am surprised that no one wants to meet "personality" with the guy before
they do "bussines." It would be a lot easier and cheaper to send the cent
off to be certified.

BTW, the coins in the first and second auctions don't look the same to me.
The date on the second coin doesn't have much wear and the coin looks like
stained steel. I couldn't read the date on the first coin, which looked like
bronze to me.

In the US, all the 1943 cents were supposed to be made of steel due to
WWII. However, a few copper blanks remained in the system and were
struck. There's only 1 1943-D in copper, but there are several each
from Philly and San Fran.

The lesser specimens trade in the 5-10K range, the top coins seem to
bring more and more at every auction.
