Default New uncirculated note

Hello,

If a bank were to issue a limited edition note with a total run of
....say 5000 that was never issued into circulation would anyone care to
take a guess at what this would be worth to collectors ???

Hard to say. Could be worth a lot if 50,000 people want one or it could be
worth very little if 50 people want one.

That would depend on which country the note is issued in, 5,000 notes
would not go far in the USA where are are a large number of collectors,
the demand would outstrip the supply resulting in the note being more
valuable than if 5,000 notes were issued in Scotland, where the number
of collectors is a lot lower.

Many Scottish specimen notes had a print run of 100, some were only 25,
but they are not all that valuable considering the small numbers
printed. Billy

Which country? I believe that in the USA only the US government, or
possibly now only the FRB, can now issue legal tender. That might not
prevent a bank from issuing "paper money" as long as it did not say or infer
"legal tender". IANAL.

I believe the note is being issued by a Scottish bank which didnt seem
to stop the clamour for the recent issue of Jack Nicklaus notes.
(2000000 in circulation)

And it is legal tender...
