Default Hi RCC - A general comment

Hi RCC,

I have been gone for many years, new baby in the house, new job, yada - yada.
Needless to say I now have a 12 yr old little boy and he has a 12 yr old friend who has the coin bug. That has caused me to pull my boxes out of the bank and do some digging.

Well I dug up RCC as a Google group to show what a resource RCC can be. Let me ask all of you - would you allow a 12 yr old boy and girl to sign onto RCC? With all the attacks and comments on quarter roll placement? At least 25% of the posts I read this morning are a personal attack!

Well I guess I will take my 1 Ember coin and hide it in shame. I am disappointed.

No

The place is overrun with 12 year old boys with names like

Lord Hawhaw

oly

Phuc Hyu

Heywood Jablowme

The only thing they do, besides wanking in their mothers basements, is trolling on RCC

You make wanking sound like it's something bad, Gaylickanus! If it wasn't for
masturbation, you'd have no sex life at all!
As far as trolling, I've yet to see you post any numismatic related.
All you do is come here and whine about the sad state of affairs, you ******!

Agreed. Yet another dead newsgroup. While it was nice getting a couple
different opinions on slabbing and bullion, the signal to noise ratio
really doesn't make it a worthwhile resource.

Well, Trevor, bad thing to say. I certainly won't make any additional
effort to fill you in on things that most basic collectors already
know. All unmoderated forums have "noise" and that's a good thing,
not a bad thing.

"Noise" calls out the lying-liars who would misinform and mislead you
for their own financial gain - and your financial loss. If that noise
is lewd, gross or even unfair, the people who get the **** invariably
deserve it.

Proper use of the usenet client would be helful. Anyway, I've been
participating running such forums for over 20 years now, and I think they
are still vital to their users.

Actually, your posts were very helpful and the reason I've kept coming
back. Thank you for explaining things. I've been out of coin collecting
for over a decade, so there are a lot of things I don't know (not that I
was an expert to begin with).

Usenet was a completely different place a decade ago, and I guess
somehow I was hoping this newsgroup was an exception. But it's declined
as much as the rest of them (those that are even left), and I guess I
was disappointed. But I was mostly agreeing with the OP that this is not
a place I'd want to introduce my kids to, due to the garbage that
unfortunately overshadows the useful information.
