Roll Call? (& time to de-lurk)

Hello Everyone,

Been following acpp for a while & thought this group was pretty much dead
until I noticed some recent activity.

Three things then.

1.) I'm hoping "Roll Call" (replies to this topic) might answer how many
people are still here if I have questions. (Mr. Ketterling has a point
about 'lost' threads on popular html boards.)

2.) For the 'regulars' here, who the devil is "FPN at...mail-o-nator"? Safe
to open this gentleman's posts? Been relying on others who quote him.

3.) Anyone here able to answer questions about pen restoration & repair.

I can try to answer some questions for you Bruce.... what would you
like to know
Despite what FPN at mailinator says, I do run a legitimate pen repair
business... don't do all kinds of pen, but maybe I can help

I think he started posting kind of recently, though that's just my
impression. I could be way off on that one.

3.) Anyone here able to answer questions about pen restoration & repair.

I think there are some people who know some people who could help, but I
myself don't have much expertise in this area, as I use mostly modern
fountain pens, and when they are damaged, I send them to the
manufacturer.

Good to see this site still has a pulse!

For an early Waterman 412, need sterling clip, & repairman or silversmith to
solder silver domical end piece onto overlay.

Also for a Waterman 52 need "Waterman Ideal Reg US Pat.Off." nib for
authenticity.

Failing that, a "Waterman Ideal New York" nib will do even though 'earlier'
than pen is supposed to have.

I'm fairly new to 'vintage' collecting pens, so pardon if following might
sound a silly question.

Who is John Klein? Can he help with pen?

Had all but given up on use-net because of mal-ware, but many of the server
names looked 'legit' & no luck contacting several recognized repairmen &
parts suppliers.

(That's not a snipe at anyone *here*-- just a sad commentary on slow demise
of Use-Net itself over the years.)

If someone *does* know of parts source, or repairman to help with pen-- will
include slightly scrambled e-mail addy.

(Did I really post that out loud?)

I have tried reading places like FPN, but the microscopic font there is
useless. Come on, wise up folks, respond to the font size setting, or do
without older users.

Not really ranting - glad to see this fine newsgroup still has a pulse.
