Sounds like the shifter mech under the turntable is binding. The way
it works is that the record pushes the fingers down with slides the mech to lift the idler wheel to a new posiion on the turntable motor shaft. Lube everything with white grease, that moves under the platter except for the idler wheel. Remove that, clean out the bushing with a q-tip and wd-40. Rough up the edge of the wheel with sandpaper. Clean the shaft that the wheel goes on with the wd-40. DO NOT oil the bushing. After a time, the oil turns to varnish and paraffin and gets sticky and slows the wheel down. Check the 3 rubber grommetts that hold the turntable motor in place. If they are hard or rotted, replace them. Any questions, please email me direct or call 215-637-2869 7pm-11pm EST Charlie Maier |
