WWII Book on Campaigns of the Pacific War, c. 46
This book is titled, The Campaigns of the Pacific War, published by the
United States Strategic Bombing Survey (Pacific), Naval Analysis Division,
U.S. Government Printing Office. It is first edition dated 1946. The book is
389 pages and is a comprehensive work on the effectiveness of aerial bombing
in the Pacific. This book is the results of the survey. The survey was
established by the Secretary of War on November 3, 1944 to conduct an
impartial and expert study of the effects of the air attacks on Japan and to
establish a basis for evaluating the importance and potential of air power
as an instrument of military strategy for future conflicts. The survey
includes both U.S. and Japanese files. Sections include Japanese Naval
Planning, the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor (planning and execution),
Japanese invasion of the Philippines, Dutch East Indies and Southeast Asia,
The Battle of the Coral Sea, Midway, Aleutian Islands, Solomons, New Guinea,
Central Pacific Operations, Western Caroline Islands, Philippine Campaign,
Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and final Naval Operations. The book is full of tables,
maps, pull-out charts, and more. Each section details (by names of ships)
destroyed, tonnage lost, and such. This is a great reference for anyone
studying the Pacific Campaign. The book measures 8 inches x 11 inches.
It is in excellent condition with no loose or missing pages. There are no
rips, tears, water damage, soiling or any other damage.
