Which country has issued the most stamps under the tutelage of another country?
This is a question that has been puzzling me. We all know that there
are many modern countries which at some point in their existence were either occupied or under the protectorate of another country especially during the colonial times. Does anyone know, however, which country has had the most stamps issued under different countries' control. I personally believe it's Morocco. I have seen local stamps issued as early as the late 19th Century, followed by Italian ones, then there are the french protectorate ones and the Spanish Moroccan stamps and Tetuan followed by the British stamps, the German stamps and finally the Post Independence modern Moroccan stamps. Are there any other countries you can think of that have had stamps issued or overprinted from as many other countries? Tracy, maybe this 'll get this group talking again? Albert Benzrihem |

Alan A google search turned up several webpages that said that the US gave up its claims to these islands in 1979 and that they are now part of Kiribati. = Eric |

It all depends on what you mean by tutelage. You mention Morocco, but then
that definition will also include all French, British, German Danish, etc. countries. Tony "albert" wrote in message om... This is a question that has been puzzling me.
