"JSTONE9352" wrote in message ... The govt. keeps making them but not many people really use them on a daily basis. As a merchant, I use them every day, making change. Many people really do use them on a regular basis. You missed the point. For most people its a one way trip from the merchant into a jar or can at home and when it is full a trip to the bank or coinstar. But I do that with all my change. Maybe we should round to the nearest dollar, then. I haven't heard a convincing argument yet why the cent should be eliminated. It's the same old sorry arguments. |

You're exactly the type of person the banksters love "Let us manage your
money for you." Bob Peterson wrote: I rarely use cash at all, so cent usage is even rarer. My guess is that the cent will probably go away, along with most forms of cash transactions as people get more used to a cashless society. I don't allow them to manage squat, but the convenience of avoiding cash or checks is worth whatever privacy issues might exist. I use them all for tolls or for vending machine change. Here in Illinois most people that pay tolls on any regular basis have I Pass. Once vending machines start taking smart cards of some sort, currency is on the way out. |

Agreed,
I use them everyday. I throw a few into my pocket with the rest of my change when I leave the house in the morning. Fred "Allen McBroom" wrote in message . 97.132...
