My guess is there are thousands of groups... what are you after just
autograph groups? If so, you can do a search for a group of a
particular interest I believe.

Here's the link to the areas of groups they have...

after a search (does not include Yahoo groups or
organizations/individual websites who host their own boards/groups);
the Google/Newsgroup area has only three groups worthy of visiting...

That is this group (the most members at 257)
One other group with 60 plus members (which is all spam and mostly
poor postings which are not related to collecting)
and the third group is ours TTM-collecting.

Proably 2/3 of those groups are defunct or have fewer than 10 members
though.

I looked up all the "autograph" "autographs" groups and there weren't
that many and only three or four had more than 15-20 members. They do
tell you how many members at the bottom ... take another look

Google Groups is nothing more than a Web interface to Usenet.

As such, there's no way to know how many 'members' there are, since
there's no way to tell how many members are in a Usenet group.

that's true; they may be behind; Ours was listed as less than what we
actually have (not by much but a couple)

Yeah, but as I said, there is no way to tell in a Usenet group how
many 'members' there are, as this data isn't stored anywhere. I don't
know how Google Groups is counting 'members', but it's not going to be
accurate.
