said: Free Randall, I think the best lubricant for pen parts is KY. You Free can buy them at the pharmacy. i suppose that and equivalent human orifice lubricants would work. that stuff has to be safe for latex condoms, which means it ought to be safe for o-rings and other rubber parts in pens. i wonder how long it would last. spouses might begin to wonder, too. "is it really about that stupid pen, or is this just a cover for the mistake of bringing the tryst lube home?" could be more trouble than it's worth... -- I feel partially hydrogenated! |

In fact, if you use too many characters, it's harder to read your message than if you had put in the body. Text and newsreaders (well, mine anyway) are much less cumbersome than web browsers and html. I can plow through newsgroups much larger than a.c.p-p pretty quickly with just a few keystrokes. -- America!! I saw it all!! Vomiting! Waving! JERRY FALWELLING into your void tube of UHF oblivion!! Though I do not use it personally, I was introduced to it for other reasons. It appears that at one time, the description on the product includes for use as lubricant for electronic parts. That is what my friends in college at the Electronic School of Electronics use them for. And the good thing about them is that it is hypo-allergenic. -- Best regards, Free Citizen Fountain Pen Network A pen site run by the Pen Community http://pagesperso.laposte.net/fpnet |

It seems to do that where some oozes out near the cap. No, I will NOT say how I know. Regards, DAve |

No, I will NOT say how I know. Regards, DAve Well, yes. It is water based. So, if it is exposed to dry air it will thicken. But if sealed in a pen barrel, it should remain moist. Depending on what your local condition is, it is best to check it once in three months. Not an inconvenient frequency since it is about the same as a lube service for your car. If you are located in the south or in the tropics as in my case, that inspection period can even be extended to six months. Or you have the option to buy one of Don Giovanni's Teflon products and give it no further thought. But then again, a trip to the drug store is what you do often and a tube of KY doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. -- Best regards, Free Citizen Fountain Pen Network A pen site run by the Pen Community http://pagesperso.laposte.net/fpnet |
