Default Pen Cartridges

Hi All;

I bought a Faber- Castell FP and ordered a box of cartridges for it. I
think it is a international size, but not real sure. Also I can't
find a converter for said pen. Thaks for your time.

Hi Don,

Faber-Castell makes some beautiful pens. If you like FPs, you should
take a look at www.fountainpennetwork.com I'm sure some of the
members there can assist you in choosing the appropriately sized
cartridges and can tell you if there is a converter for you particular
model.

Hope to see you there!

Hi, Don.

What model of pen did you buy?

Yes, Faber Castell fps take standard international cartridges. Is that what
you ordered?

Where have you looked for a converter? Google?

HI;
I bought the Faber-Castell Ambition from swisher. I also ordered
cartridges from them. I have 14 dealers book marked; all sold
cartridges being international size. But not them or a yahoo search
turned up what would be called a cartridge for the above pen. Somwhere
it might be implied, but I have found no "Faber-Castell cartridges".
I have been told on FPN that they "should" be compatible
with Pelikan. Thanks

That's because pens that use the standard int'l carts don't usually have
cartridges made specifically for them. Your pen, for example, and my
Kawecos. Pens that use proprietary cartridges will have carts labeled
specifically for them such as Cross, Lamy, and Parker. The exception would
be a company such as Pelikan that makes pens AND ink. Since Pel makes
standard int'l carts, you'll be fine.

Words are tricky. It's difficult to know when it's safe to take someone
literally or not, until you get used to the territory. The FPN respondent
probably used "should" for the Pel carts because they will, barring some
unknown factor. The thing is that there are so many pens we can't possibly
know them all. However, Pels work where other standard international
cartridges won't, so I have no doubt that they'll be fine.

You're welcome. I see that Stephen has more info for you.

Welcome to the group!

Fahrney's sells a converter for the Ambition:

http://www.fahrneyspens.com/Item--i-600102

Yes, that's what I found when I googled, but then I realized that I didn't
know which model pen he has.

At Fountain Pen Hospital you can also order a converter for the
Ambition (from the drop-down list select Manufacturer: Faber-
Castell; Refill Type: Converter for Ambition FP; choose the
quantity, and click on Buy; you can also select a six-pack of
cartridges):

http://www.fountainpenhospital.com/refills/refills_ct.asp

On Joon's website you can read the following:

| The Graf von Faber-Castell Fountain Pens that can take
| cartridges will accept the following brands:
| Montblanc, Waterman Mini, Pelikan, Rotring, Caran d'Ache, S.T.
| Dupont for Orpheo/Fidelio and Cartier.

http://www.joonpens.com/display_refill?brandid=18

I've never ordered anything from these dealers.

Even though I order mainly from Swisher's, I have ordered from Fahrney's and
FPH w/o problems. It just depends on what I want, which place has it for the
best price, and if there are other items I can get at the same time to save
on shipping.

I've read that others have been happy with Joon's.

"fountain pen converter universal" should have worked.

But, now you know for sure that you're getting a converter that will fit
your pen.

Enjoy.
