Default Pilot Varsity

The only nib width of which I'm aware for the Pilot Varsity is medium.
However, I read on DIY Planner in a post last Aug. that Office Depot has
them in .4mm extra fine. I checked and the item # 90010 is for black.
Googling has some sites, like Amazon, listing a fine nib, also item #90010,
but the Pilot site and Pen City (also item #90010) don't say anything. At
all. Which is what I'm used to...which turned out to be a medium nib.

A comment (not a review) on Amazon says the "fine" line for his Varsity is
actually a medium .7mm line, but that doesn't explain the XF .4mm claim by
other sites.

What's up? Do the office supply stores know what they're talking about? Or,
is the Varsity still available only with medium nibs?

Anybody know? I went to Staples last night and didn't see any.

The office max or office depot I have access to carries a 3
pack of fat mediums. The varsity is an american version of the
vpen, so maybe jpen or some other place will have what you
want.

I just tried pulling the nib/feed unit from the body the other
week and it is much harder than people suggest.

Yes, that's all I've ever encountered. Medium, I mean. Single pens, not the
3-pack.

The varsity is an american version of the vpen,

From what I see on jetpens, the Vpen is Fine, not Medium:

http://www.jetpens.com/index.php/cPath/214_492.

so maybe jpen or some other place will have what you
want.

What is jpen? I keep seeing references to it, but either I use the wrong URL
or there's no website in English:

http://www.jpen.com.

Oho! That's good to know!

I seem to recall an actual jpen site but can't find it either.
Maybe it is the same as jstationery.com

Sorry about that.

Me, too. I want to check out this site I keep seeing people mention.

jstationery is good. I've ordered from them a couple of times.

I have used this pen-found it at a store now closed (3/31/08).It is
hard to find anywhere in my area!
I now use a cheap fountain pen from a dollar shop on the Evanston, IL-
Chicago border: a shop called Bargain Paradise on Howard Street.
It is actually wuite good.

That's a worthy trip. I used to live in Evanston, and made runs down to
Howard St. on the L to buy beer .
