The most pathetic people in the world have to be the Afterbirthers,
the nut jobs that are still arguing that Obama was born somewhere else. Even Dumb Donald has given up. The best-selling T-shirt on the Internet is now an Obama 2012 shirt with the slogan "Born in the USA!" |

An ironic comeback now would be for Obama to announce how proud he is to have forced Trump to back out of a potential presidential run. |

Ditto for Gingrich and any of the more extreme (i.e., lunatic fringe) Tea-Bagger types. |

Probably right, but it just seemed so smug of Trump to have announced how proud he was to have been the one to make Obama release his birth certificate. So far, the potential GOP lineup seems to be composed mostly of wackos and bland, non-charismatic recycled names. sorta like RCC. |

Although I never doubted that Obama was born in the US, can anyone
tell me WHY it took so long for it to come out? If it was an issue, his handlers should have been able to present it immediately, on demand. It smacks of some sort of dishonesty. If you were asked to present your birth certificate, you could, couldn't you? Why did it take 3 years? |

Could be any number of reasons. The so-called "short form" certificate
is sufficient for most legal purposes (at least for Hawaii), & maybe Obama & co. simply didn't see the need to show any more. Obama also has been a nationally prominent figure since 2004, & maybe didn't appreciate (or accept) the extent to which you cease to have a private personal life when you try to become US President. From how he won his first elections in Illinois, I'm also sure he quickly picked up on how useful it would be to encourage outrageous conspiracy talk as a way of discrediting the opposition by association. Think he's getting any GRANT DOLLARS for each shirt sold (obligatory coin reference is intentional)? Jerry What the hell,; everything else is OT. |

In fact, Obama did not face serious opposition in the general election in 2008. It lead to a degree of overconfidence that perhaps has been arrested by the results in 2010. I doubt that our system functions properly without a strong opposing party and it appears that the Republican party is leaderless. If Obama runs unopposed in 2012, despite his positive qualities, it will not be good for the country. |
