In Canada, the photo is actually part of the stamp, unlike the Australian model. The general catalogues list the blank frame as the stamp with one # per frame. The earlier stamps had pictures that came on small stickers that were stuck into the five frames. http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009161.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009199.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009200.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009201.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009202.jpg http://data2.collectionscanada.ca/e/e001/e000009203.jpg The cost is high. (About double face value) I have never received any on mail. Later versions of the frames had no face value shown and were worth 47c, 48c, or 49c at different dates. Earlier versions of the product came in two parts, with a separate personalized sticker that the customer affixed inside the stamp frame. But customers who order Picture Postage today will receive a sheet of complete individual stamps, with their -photograph already printed within the stamp frames. G'day Mitja, you may consider "personalised" stamps, as "personalised tabs" The stamp remains authentic (well, in Australian issues) It is just the se-tenant "tab" that is personalised. Accept it as possibly a normal advancement in Philately. People are going to pay exhorbitant prices for tabs that may suit their personal thematic over time, but who are we to judge how people spend their disposable income? personalized stamps
dear Blair,
in the Netherlands we first had frames as stamps plus the possibility to fix the provided stickers on them; then we had the 'tabs' next to the actual stamp. From May 1st, 2006, we have frames in which you could have had your own picture printed. I knew that this model existed already in Austria, but now I know that Canada has them too. groetjes, Rein Op Fri, 19 Jan 2007 05:25:33 +0100 schreef Blair (TC) : In Canada, the photo is actually part of the stamp, unlike the Australian model. If it means people are going to stick these things on letters rather
than using meters I am all in favour !! Who knows they may get used to using stamps again Malcolm Rein wrote: dear Blair, in the Netherlands we first had frames as stamps plus the possibility to fix the provided stickers on them; then we had the 'tabs' next to the actual stamp.
