It seems like no picture is good enough to really show that a coin is
uncirculated, mint state, or whatever. Please give me an opinion on this coin, vis-a-vis whether it's UNC, freshly dipped, or both: http://tinyurl.com/gfsfk It's just so damn bright... BA |

Whether it is indeed UNC can't be determined from a picture. Mr. Jaggers |

Bright white, with spots of black in parts along the edge border, mostly
evident on the reverse. Ild say it was cleaned/dipped Alan Marshall "Mr. Jaggers" lugburzman[at]yahoo[dot]com wrote in message ... "Bland" wrote in message ... BA My guess it was at least dipped, and maybe also rubbed with the thumb. Can't tell from the pic if it is UNC. The seller has excellent feed back, why not send him an email and ask if it was dipped? -- ©¿©¬ ~ Ed Hendricks |

I'd never pay UNC money for any eBay coin advertised as UNC, no matter how confident I might be. It's bad enough at dimly-lit shows. Mr. Jaggers |

I'll ask him/her now. I do want one of these, but I'm afraid the price is a bit over what I would spend without seeing the coin in person. I wanted some group input on how to interpret ebay pics in general, specifically; can one ever be sure it is uncirculated from a picture? BA |

Some sellers have superb pics which are very inviting (this is not one of them). However, you never know if the pic was doctored and can't be absolutely sure until the coin is in hand. Just make sure that the seller has a liberal return policy and pay by credit card with PayPal to protect yourself in case there is a dispute later. -- ©¿©¬ ~ Ed Hendricks |

Please give me an opinion on this coin, vis-a-vis whether it's UNC, freshly dipped, or both: If the picture is good enough, I have an easier time looking at the coin than if I have it in hand. The pictures are bigger than the coin. I can see scratches and dots that I would miss looking at the coin itself. The coin looks very white to me. So does the background, so I suspect the photo would have been better with some color balance. The coin looks uncirculated. I can't tell if it has been dipped. One really can't tell such things unless something is dipped to the point of damage. One light dipping can improve a coin's appearance and is not necessarily a bad thing (if done right). No advice on the coin, since I'm not familiar with it. Really I just wanted to say that pictures are often easier to judge than coins. Anita |

Judging by the detail that seems to be available, I'd say that it's
uncirculated. Has it been dipped? Can't tell. There does seem to be a nice cartwheel. I'd rather see it in person before I'd buy it. -- Richard My coin Links: http://coins.richlh.com/Coins/MyCoinLinks.htm "Bland" wrote in message ...
