Default Thinking of Frank

I've been at my home desk this evening, editing some planning documents
from work. I use red ink (new Sheaffer---thanks, Sam for the
recommendation) in a Mont Blank knockoff I bought from Frank at the DC
Pen Show two or three years ago. I needed to refill it, so got my
bottle of ink open and unscrewed the pen barrel. There it was, my only
Aerometric convertor. I hate the things! I'm a piston fill sort of guy
and use both piston fill pens and piston fill convertors. However, that
day Frank was in a cantankerous mood (go figure) and refused to sell me
a piston convertor with the pen. When I insisted, he told me that I
could go to the next table and Ann-Marie would sell me one, but he
wasn't going to put one in the pen. I bought the pen and paid him $5.00
for that darned convertor. It's been in the pen ever since. Tonight,
after almost spilling a bottle of red ink in my lap, I took out the old
aero filler and put in a piston convertor. I must have filled that pen
a couple of dozen times and grumbled about Frank every time. I'm gonna
miss him. :-(

A fitting cantankerous tribute to a cantankerous fellow. Thanks for
sharing, Reuben. :-)
