Default Interesting Price Spread

I picked up a 1981 Clear S Proof Set over the weekend in the shop. So I'm
thinking of throwing it on eBay, so off to check recent auction history I
go. Coin Values has them at $300-$375.

Recent closed auctions on eBay range from less then $50 to $285, with prices
all over the board. Few had great photography.

Pretty interesting.
Wes

That may indicate the bidder's perception of the size of gamble one takes
when bidding on a 1981 Type II proof set on eBay. A lot of sellers will
list the common Ty 1 as a Ty 2, and not necessarily because of ethics as
much as ignorance. A lot of people think if they see an "S" mint mark
without the "S" being filled, they have a type 2. I encountered this at the
local coin club meeting, where only 2 ( one being me, thanks to rcc) out of
30 genuinely knew the diagnostics of the ty 2 vs the ty 1.
