Poultry Shares in Stock Market Take a Nosedive

Both the shares of poultry companies and the tourism sector,
achieving record highs prior to the bird flu outbreak in Turkey, have both
experienced a drop on the Istanbul Stock Market.

It is impossible to predict the bottom line of the sharp declines in
shares following the deaths from bird flu in the city of Van at the
beginning of the year.


One of the most prominent companies in the sector, "Banvit" share that
was 1.88 new Turkish liras (YTL) before the outbreak traded on the Istanbul
Stock Exchange at YTL 1.75 Monday.


"Pinar E" shares continued to trade at YTL 2.30.


"Seker Pilic" shares fell to 4.78 YTL from 5.41, marking it one of the
worse declines.


"Van Et" shares that were selling at YTL 2.64 before the announcement
of the first bird flu death traded at YTL 2.54 on Monday.
