Default VANPEX 2006 scheduled for September 8-10

Mark your calendar for VANPEX 2006, the national-level stamp exhibition
and bourse sponsored annually by the British Columbia Philatelic
Society. This year, VANPEX is scheduled for September 8 - 10, 2006 at
the Executive Plaza Coquitlam Hotel, 405 North Road, Coquitlam, BC, a
Vancouver suburb. The hotel is just a five-minute walk from the
Lougheed SkyTrain Station and Lougheed Mall Shopping Centre.

Plans call for 180 exhibit frames, 31 bourse tables, and an awards
banquet. The VANPEX 2006 theme - Three Kings for Canada -
commemorates the 70th anniversary of the "Three-Kings Year," 1936,
when Kings George V, Edward VIII, and George VI reigned as Canada's
monarchs. As this year also marks the 80th birthday of our current
Sovereign Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, it is fitting that our theme be a
royal one (although exhibits need not be restricted to our theme;
VANPEX is inclusive and worldwide in scope). Once again, we will issue
limited-edition show covers, available only at VANPEX, featuring
contemporaneous stamps and period cachets.

I would be pleased to accept exhibits from any collectors. The deadline
for applications is Wednesday, August 9, 2006. Our prospectus,
application form and flier can be downloaded from our club's home page
at http://www.bcphilatelic.org.

If you'd like your name added to our VANPEX mailing list, or have any
questions regarding VANPEX, please contact me at e-mail
, telephone 604-694-0014. We are proud of our show;
last year, Charles Verge, president of the Royal Philatelic Society of
Canada, said that VANPEX has set a new standard for Canadian shows to
strive for. We hope we can do even better this year. Hope you can make
it to Vancouver, or at least send an exhaibit. (We have selected an
American judge for our judges' panel; he has agreed to act as
agent/courier for exhibitors who can't travel to Vancouver. I'll be
happy to put you exhibitors in touch with him.)
