Ah! I see
Try Googling "Bakker Express" (1897 locals.) there are numerous pages for these stamps. Apart from that, I know very little, and have not spied them before Blair. I was hoping that there might be something in that philatelic library of yours that might shed some light. Blair |

I was hoping that there might be something in that philatelic library of yours that might shed some light. Blair Here is a nice cover. TRANSVAAL — Bakker Express. 1887 registered cover franked with Bakker Express 1d black on pink, inscribed "Vry Tot Postk: Pretoria" (to Pretoria), used from Waterberg to Pretoria where Transvaal adhesives were added (some defective), sent via London (31 May 1887) to Rome, where it arrived 3 June, 1887. Charged "21/2"(d) in red for the forwarding postage from London to Italy. A fine mixed franking Bakker Express cover, with 1991 Holcombe cert., very rare - sold $2,300.00 USD. Cherrystone 2001 (sorry no scan) Blair |
